I used to be scared stiff of spiders and it annoyed me so I went out and bought myself a Chilean Rose Tarantula who I named Chilli Naima, she is a diva! My love of Tarantulas grew and grew and the phobia dwindled away to nothing I now own lots of Tarantulas from South America and Africa, obviously I am scared of Funnel webs and other extremely venomous spiders which I do not see coming from Britain, thank Heaven and I am not advocating owning any of these lethal Arachnids but Tarantulas are amazing animals that always get a bad press. I essentially cured myself of my fear, and know that this method is not for everyone, so I can safely say that I love Spiders, but am terrified of Centipedes and Scopions. O well u cant have it all! Note I repeat do not go out and buy Redback Spiders,Funnel webs,Black widows or any of these Spiders they are lethal!. If you want to cure your fear a Tarantula can be a great pet, obviously alook but dont touch pet but a great pet all the same.

any phobia by definition is an abnormal fear, facing the fear is not always wise without a mediary (is that right word?) - I have an unreasonable irrational fear of certain insects also, I once stood naked in my bathtub for an hour until someone came and rescued me. There was a cockroach on my shower curtain and I froze solid, I couldn't move, I thought I was dying. It never left, turned out it was dead... didn't matter me, I'm afraid of them dead too

I have arachnophobia too. If I see an arachnid too close to me, I panic and find it difficult to breathe. And once I had one in my hair. The second I flicked it out of my hair, I actually threw up and broke down in tears. As far as the arachnophobia goes, you're not alone. I'm okay with sheep though. But I'm a bit nervous around donkeys, because a donkey fell on top of me and broke my leg when I was 7. I mostly laugh about it now. Lol. =o)

Arachnophobia is rather common, it's not unusual. And for your childhood experience with the sheep, it is totally normal, considering what happened. I personally like sheep, they are cool :D

spiders & sheep are pretty freaky things, granted. i'm afraid of wild animals so i won't go near any sheep, and i sure as hell wouldn't be going near any spiders under any circumstances whatsoever. but my phobia isn't extreme to the point where i can't wear things made out of sheep. but you know, i totally get where you're coming from, so i don't see your fear as all that abnormal.

Try to confront your fear, this one is abnormal. It can be very hard at first, but I got over my fear of dark in a few year. Good luck.
