Goths don't equate to Satanists, that's you lot buying into stupid and crazy assumptions.
I knew a lot of Goths, even was a one at one time and they were the nicest and most ACCEPTING people I ever knew.
And none of them were Satanists, Wiccans maybe but they never worshipped Satan.
Time to grow up a little.
I wouldn't call being afraid of goths "normal". As many of the above commenters pointed out, being goth, emo or anything along those lines is a completely different thing than being a devil worshipper. I consider myself to be a mix of goth and emo myself actually. I've never purposely hurt anyone, I don't worship the devil, etcetera. You should really give us a chance. Goths are generally kind, nonviolent and, as someone else earlier mentioned, incredibly accepting, which is really what attracted me to the subculture. Unlike the popular crowd, goths tend to welcome people into their social circle regardless of their race, religion, sexual orientation, taste in music, and the like.
Also, while many emos tend to suffer from depression or similar issues, we don't all sit around cutting ourselves, nor is self-injury seen as "cool" or "glamorous". I can assure you that that idea is simply a frivolous stereotype, nothing more.
So don't judge us. We're not all bad people, and I think you'll find that there's a lot more to us than our unusual taste in music and fashion, if you only give us a chance.
Thanks for reading and have a nice day.
I actually dig goths... but I understand why you would be afraid of them... They're just different people that usually express their souls through their clothing and music... I really feel uncomfortable around people that like rap, and express it through their clothing, and voices... Yo Dawg, Whats crackin'?
Im goth, and Ill just say that I am NOT satanist. Basically we accept that there is pain and sufferin in the world and we express that through our personality/attitude. But I do understand how you might be freaked out.
I'm goth and catholic. I have never, met a mean goth. I have been kicked out of places and have had trash thrown at me, just for the way I look. The last thing we want to do is make others feel bad, that's just mean.
A goth said "hello" to you and you ran away screaming? He (or she) sounds pretty friendly to me. Goths aren't dangerous or scary, they're just a subculture, they're doing their own thing. It's their way of rebelling against society, plus they just like the clothes and the music. They're not going to kill you, they don't drink blood or engage in human sacrifice, so relax. I'm not a goth myself, but I don't think they're anything to be afraid of.
Whats wrong with goths .. nothign.. whats wrong with Satanists, nothing, stanism is about accepting the devil into your life, i am not a satanist, but it is wise to remember that god flooded the world, god ordered a man to stone his wife, god hates gays, god punished the human race for eternity for eating a flipping apple. well, what did lucifer, satan do ? he simply wnated to be better than god. and i too would be if god was so genocidal and nasty. so i know who i would rather worship , do you? (im nt satanist btw im just clever and research these things lol moo)
You shouldn't be scared they will grow up and one day ask you if you want "paper" or "plastic" and "is pepsi ok?"
... I was raised in a very sheltered protestant christian environment, and was pretty much afraid of new types of people, in both behavior and appearance. Yes, goths used to scare me to death, but it was more discomfort than fear - I'd never run from them, just couldn't really walk up to them either, or talk to them, etc...
Then I got involved with a school function where I really had no choice but to work with a couple of them. Those few were such awesome people... I definitely got over that fear quick.
When I meet them now I'm torn between the way I was raised and what I've learned. I feel weird with them but tend to stick it out anyway, and have wound up with many of them as friends, a few very close.
I have met one "goth" who ended up stealing a lot of stuff from me. I've never met a physically-dangerous one, although a few have had concerning obsessions with knives and the like - but I was never given a reason to believe they'd hurt me, and they never have.
I love people in general, goths included, and judge them by how they treat me, not how they look. I don't know if it's "normal" to be scared of them or not but it's certainly unwarranted.
"He wears dark clothes and make up! He must be mean!:C"
Nah, I can get that the outfit is disturbing you, I'm not a fan of it myself, but ever heard of the expression "Never judge a book by its cover"?
Hell, I even think some of them could be your friend.
Like in every community, there are assholes, stupid, angry, tall, small, fat, normal, weird goths.
Anyway, just do whatever you want, you don't have to be friendly with someone you don't like to "see", though you might be missing something.
It's normal, I used to think they were devil worshippers but they're good people, you should give them a chance.
most goths are normal people just like you but I think some of them want to intimidate others because maybe they are insecure Its normal to be nervous especially of people who look like they might be evil but im sure a lot are really nice people just trying to find their place in the world. As a teen my sister was a goth and she was one of the kindest you could ever hope to neet :)
