Is it normal to be scared of going down an escalator?

every time i go to big department stores i have to take the elevator or the stairs. if going down an escalator is the only option i cant go. i am very terrified of going down but i have no problem going up. i was wondering if my phobia of going down escalators is normal?

It's just a phobia. I get scared when i'm on an escalator but not enough to not use them but i'm terrified of heights so thats probably why.

Not normal dude. If anything just slide down from the escalator railing, if that helps.

It's more normal than you think. There is nothing in nature like an escalator. It's outside our experience of the way the natural world is. I don't think you have a phobia (an irrational fear). I think you have a very rational fear in the same way people are afraid of flying or deep water.

It really isn't normal. I don't see how you could be scared of slow moving escaltor. I mean they hardly move that fast. Grow up
