Is it normal to be scared of falling asleep?

Lately I have grown a fear of falling asleep and dying, like stop breathing, breaking my neck in my sleep.. Sometimes I forget about this fear though (?) and I sleep wonderfully. Other times I don't want to go to sleep at all and just sit on the internet like right now until who knows how late, making myself incredibly tired, and wake up following morning with my head on my desk. Is it normal to think like this?

I'm sometimes scared to sleep... Look for something that gives you comfort, maybe that will help.

  • Why should you be afraid? Even if you do die, which is ENORMOUSLY unlikely unless you're like 85, you'll never know you've died, so there's no problem - you can't be sad to have died when you're not alive to be sad.
