Is it normal to be scared of cops and getting pulled over?

I've been pulled over a few times in my life, for things like speeding tickets and whatnot. Though I've never gotten in major trouble, I now have a huge fear of the police. Whenever I see a police car on the road, or hear sirens, my heartrate rockets and I get really nervous and paranoid. I'm terrified if there's a cop following my car, I feel like they're looking for any excuse to pull me over. I've had nightmares where a cop starts following me and I suddenly lose the ability to control my vehicle.

I have been pulled over a couple of times for really dumb reasons, like the time I was in someone's backseat and my shoulderstrap was laying incorrectly. But am I the only who who gets extremely nervous about this?

    I'm an ex cop and I have seen tons of people react the same way.. Without reason. I even get nervous myself haha! It is how we are raised...and it's a powerful authority figure. Totally normal.

    I've seen people get like this when they get pulled over, I on the other hand get the opposite of that and have gotten myself out of most of my tickets...Except for the ones given by girl cops I don't think any of us can sugar Coat those :) Lol

    Very normal.

    I got pulled over once because the officer said one of my taillights looked brighter than the other. So I got out and we both looked at them together. They were the same. He just started laughing and said it must've been the angle he was looking at it. He told me he liked the car, he was bored, and hadn't given any tickets that day so he needed to look busy. All in all, he was a cool guy and I still laugh about that stop to this day.

    The point of my story is to remember police officers are human, too. So, relax and just remember that and things will go much smoother.

    NO... your not the only one... i have been pulled over well quite a bit and some were for the dumbest reasons and i have gotten into some stuff with them. But, yeaahh like fakafel87 said just try to control yourself because more than likely if u are pulled over, they can tell if you are nervous and will more than likely just fuck with you even if you dont have anything to hide.. idk if there is a phobia of the being scared of the cops, but if so i totally have it.

    I have a HORRIBLE fear of police, but I have had really bad experiences with them.

    Yeah it's normal, but I'd try and get your anxiety controlled when police are around, as anziety attacks may affect your driving, and they may think you're under the influence of something.
