Is it normal to be scared of cars behind you?

I'm scared of cars when they go behind me and I can't have my back to them. I even have been known to rush back into the house from going to get the mail if a car comes. And if I'm in public and a car zooms behind me I tense up And stand still until it's gone. All sorts of scared thoughts go through my head as though I think that they'll shoot me or try to kill me or something but once the car is gone I'm fine. I'm not fond of cars in general but I can't stop myself from being scared when they go by behind me.

So in a nutshell, you don't want to be taken from behind ;-)

I guess if the car behind you has lube on the front bumper and you're bent over grabbing your ankles.3000 lbs of bumper and steel would be alot to take up the old pooper

No I don't ride a motorcycle and I'm scared to drive. I hate intersections and on busy roads I turn into a sobbing shaking mess. I get scared. I even get nervous when someone else is driving and something/ some other car is too close.

You have a very high level of anxiety and it is affecting your ability to function normally. This is okay, it happens to many. It doesn't mean there is something wrong with you, only that something in your body is not working for you the way that it should. Please see a doctor to see if a medical condition or life situation is causing this. Once you address this you will be able to lead a healthier life. If you ignore this, it could actually get worse.

Do you drive a motorcycle, it would be a little more normal, since you can easily die in a crash, but even then, you need more confidence

I am afraid of the same thing. But I don't think it's normal. Maybe you should talk to a therapist.
