Is it normal to be scared

Ok so im 17 and i am a virgin. Ive been thinking about/want to "loose it" to my bf. (long distance relationship so we dont see each other often) but i am terrified that i would mess it up or do something wrong... What im trying to ask is if i will just naturally know what to do?
Is this weird that i have all these thoughts running through my head?
