Is it normal to be sad about things said in middle school?

A friend of mine recently told me about how kids used to talk about me back in middle school, calling me "weird", "spoiled", and "fucking fat". I asked him about it, so it didn't just come up out of the blue.

Is is normal that this still bothers me? It makes me kind of sad. is it normal to still worry about this years later?

I think it's normal, especially if those are things that you're insecure about. Remember, though, that middle school kids are a bunch of little assholes.

You used to be a spoiled, weird, fat little fuck but if you aren't anymore, you shouldn't worry about it now.

I can see where you're coming from. I am like an elephant and never forget what people have said to me and I dwell on things for years. xx

It really doesn't matter anymore. I mean, you've changed and so have they (I assume) and the people who called you those things may not even remember doing it, since it was so insignificant.

You should try to think about other things.

If you keep dwelling on the past it may destroy you.

I have tried to repress my past too. In a way it does allow you to clear your head and look forward to the future.
This is cheesy and cliche. Still though...'Sticks and stones will break my bones, but names will never hurt me'
