Is it normal to be royally annoyed by coworkers saying "good morning"
My job often requires quite a bit of focus, which is hard to come by, amid the cackling regularly coming in from another cubicle, people calling me, and people coming to see me in person. Men constantly trying to grope me, the boss wanting me to do his laundry the acting manager wanting me to clean his dirty drawers, men from another floor wanting me to cook them food and go round to there houses.
The worst annoyance for me is people saying "good morning" every day. My cubicle is right next to the entrance and people come in at different times, from 8am to 10pm. So every day, for the first 6-8 hours, I'm constantly being interrupted by people saying "good morning." What's worse is I've recently read a study that specifically studied the type of job I do (computer cleaner) and found that a single distraction can ruin good productivity for up to 15 minutes of a good sticky keyboard clean.
So I took action. I blocked off my cubicle window so the people coming in could not see me. Ie I've put up wooden boards on windows had to smash the windows and seal them off with metal frames put posters saying do not come in do not disturb... Even went out of my way to put up signs saying toxic beware do not enter or you will burn with the acid.... I've ripped out the carpets and put up electric floors that shock u if u come in I've put acid on the floor outside...
Many got a hint, but there are a few people who still keep poking their heads in every morning, just to say "good morning" and if I would sleep with them most of these workers who come in are still drunk or high on drugs stink of used condoms and offer really bad drinks to me and force me to drink whiskey!! Then they leave. It's really starting to irritate me, since now I can't see them coming and they startle me every time. Some even go out there way and throw eggs and curry off me and used toilet stuff on my blonde hair
I plan on asking them to stop doing that and right now I'm so annoyed that I don't even plan on being nice about it. I don't chit-chat with these people, I don't come here to talk to these idiots I have my own friends and life I'm here cause they pay me 5 dollars an hour. We aren't even "work friends." We're just coworkers and we see each other every business day. I see no reason why we need to say good morning to each other at all. If I was out and they were being beat up I would walk past and act like I don't know them cause they are not my friends
So the question is, am I being an asshole here? Should I really suck it up and be "part of a team" with these people or is my insistence on some privacy so I could focus on my job justified?
