Is it normal to be quiet during movies

I see a good film as a piece of art, and I have great respect for all the work that went into making it. Also I love being absorbed by a film and feeling with the protagonists. Therefor when I watch a movie I turn off the lights, I don't skip anything and most of all I shut the f**k up. I found out that this makes it hard for me to enjoy watching movies with people who don't feel that way. Like when theres a very sublime emotional scene and somebody laughs or makes a dumb comment, it just ruins the whole thing for me. Am I normal? How do you watch movies with other people?

If it's a rubbishy film, I find it doesn't need my full attention. But I plan on rewatching one of my favourite films this afternoon (Oldboy) and I plan on watching it in rapt silence without a bathroom break, food break or anything at all that would distract me. I'd almost be tempted to learn Korean so I don't need the subtitles.

I'd be watching it now but there's a workman outside with a drill and I want absolutely zero distraction. If I wasn't watching it alone, anyone I was with would have strict instruction to say nothing until it was over. I don't know how you can with a film as beautiful as this, anyway. There is scene after scene which you don't get time enough to drink in, even without distraction.

Rarely can I sit through an entire movie. If it's a good movie then yes, I like quiet. A shitty movie, well I give (almost) every movie a chance but if it's as stupid as I suspected I usually just get up and do something else.

When I'm at a movie theatre I sometimes make a small comment nothing long or anything, but when I'm at home watching a movie with a friend we end up talking and making jokes, and even though we had fun, I end up regretting it. I am like you, I like to be completely into the film. I don't know it's hard to say. I'll try not saying a word next time I watch a movie, because I'm not sure if being alone is the answer or not.

I never was a movie talker... if it's a movie I REALLY wanted to see for the purpose of enjoying it on a deeper level, then I'd rather watch it alone. Thank goodness most of my friends aren't movie talkers.

I don't talk if it's a movie I have no seen before or haven't seen in a Very long time. If it's a movie I have seen many times, and depending on who I am watching it with, I will make random comments or maybe a joke that is relevant to the current scene.

It depends on the movie, where we're watching it and who is watching it. Also my mood, how much pot I've smoked and whether or no their are snacks.

I make and don't mind occasional comment, but when somebody talks and especially asks questions, I just want to say STFU.

This is why I hate the movie...a movie that most people love. Every time I have tried to watch it, everyone around me is quoting every funny scene before the actors say the lines. It drives me crazy and the film is mostly ruined at this point. I should watch it alone but it annoys me too much and at this point I find it amusing when people get mad at me for not liking it. It really has nothing to do with the film, but the fans of the film.
