Is it normal to be pro choice?

Everywhere I go all I hear is about fetal rights and all the horrid parts about abortion. I honor anyone elses opinion on the issue as it is a very serious subject. However...I am pro choice. This side of the story does not seem to get much respect. But the same people that are out for fetal rights are often times the same ones griping about all the fees that are put on the citizens of the united states to care for and educate all these unwanted babies as they grow up. I just feel that it is appropriate for women to have the option of ending an unwanted pregnancy before it's too late. I do not agree with partial birth abortions/abortions occuring after the fetus has reached a level of viability, but in the early weeks I feel it is ok for abortion as long as the mother is educated & mentally competent to make the decision.

I just want to know...is it normal to be prochoice?

    I'm pro choice.

Nobody likes abortions, people saying that pro choice people just like killing babies are just plain ignorant.

However, making it illegal does NOT reduce the number of abortions, just makes them more dangerous, with higher mortality rates for mothers, and with higher likelyhood of the abortions being done later on (older embryo).

You just gotta have the option there. And couple it a much stronger birth control education.

  • the way I look at it is that if the government makes abortion illegal, then what does a woman do if she was raped?no woman on this planet would want to have a baby by a rapist. each day when she'd look at him/her, she would be reminded of what happened. besides, it's mainly a bunch of men makine decisions about WOMENS' bodies. not all men, but you get my point. pro choice. but, as mentioned by others, not as a birth control. women should only be allowed like two abortions their whole life. kinda like a "get outta jail free" card in monopoly; you can only use it when you really need it, no refunds, and once you're done, you're done.

I'm there with you! Speaking as a girl myself, I get scorn for having this viewpoint. But, meh! It's our opinion, yeah? It's normal as far as I'm concerned!

  • I'm pro choice. Many people who are pro life think only of the fetus' rights, and not the rights and quality of life available for the child itself, which are surely more important. Often the babies of mother's considering abortion, possibly of single parent families (no prejudice intended) or simply in areas where it would be hard or even dangerous to bring up a child, would not have the kind of quality of childhood that the rest of us enjoy. We couldn't possibly understand what it would be like to be pregnant with no money, no help and nowhere to go - both mother and child would have no future.
You'd think it was a hard enough decision as it is without a bunch of pro life campaigners in your face trying to influence your decisions with their emotional "blackmail" (for want of a better word.)

And, as said by the person above, making abortions illegal would only cause an increase in the number of dangerous, unethical abortions which could cause harm and unnecessary pain to both mother and child.

Having said this, I do think there is a certain limit to when on when you cannot have an abortion (eg when the fetus starts to become aware of its surroundings and feels pain - then it's not on). But that kind of goes without saying.

I am soooo pro choice. I don't want to see women again trying to self abort their fetis. Many died. Pro lifers try to say there is adoption. Well, sometimes that's not a choice either. I don't want anyone telling what I should about it. I believe you should be informed about your options. But, my decision should be my decision. Not some radical group.

Very. Where I come from is strictly conservative religious people. I'm not going to say abortion is right by any means, but I do think that a woman should have a choice with what she wants to do. No point in having a child u don't want.

    Cheers

I'm Pro Choice, pro life people only in fever of unborn baby, they didn't think about women who suffered with unwanted pregnancy. I suggest here if anyone needs to abort unplanned pregnancy buy abortion pill online to terminate in safely manner.

Of course it's normal! Everyone has opinions. It's likely that the places where you work or hang around a lot probably just have a lot of pro-life people. It doesn't mean pro-choice is less common, because it certainly isn't.

I think that women should at least have the option. I don't know where OP lives, but I'm in the United States. This is supposedly the land of the free and the home of the brave. Surely then, women should have the freedom to do what they want with their bodies.

Abortion late-term is wrong because the infant can feel pain. But early on, they barely resemble babies at all. I could never have an abortion. But I have no right telling other women that they can't, either.

Of course it is normal to be pro-choice. I most certainly am too. It disgusts me to think that people (pro-lifers) are trying to take that right away from us. In all honesty, when I truly think about it, if that right was taken away, there would be more deaths of women then ever before. This is so because if the safe way to have an abortion is taken away, some women will go to extremes, such as sticking hangers up "there" or punching themselves in the stomachs or whatnot. In the end, this could cause severe internal bleeding and end up killing the woman.

I think it will never be illegal. Think about it, you simply cannot tell someone what medical decision to make, however "detrimental" it may be (which is totally subjective to opinion).

I believe in extreme birth control. I dint have a much of a problem with Plan B. I believe in abortion is some cases but not for birth control. I have a friend who had an abortion years ago. Every year she says, "my son would have been 38 this year". I would hate to have that on my conscience. I would be miserable.

  • I'm very much against abortion. I mean it makes no sense that people can get fined, or maybe even jailed for killing/hurting an endangered animal or tree or something, but it's okay to kill babies? Not good...

OMG how can you call it a baby when it hasn't even developed a brain yet.
these arguments are allways the same
pro-abortion has so many great arguments like what if they were raped, their family is poor, father left, teen pregnancy, etc.
and then the anti-abortion ppl are like "but you are killing BABIES/CHILDREN and they were going to have such a BRIGHT FUTURE"
and then of course everybody forgets everything the pro-abortion ppl said because they dont want to be labeled as child killers.
i also agree with the post above me, it should be called pro-abortion. both sides "scream propaganda" but at least the pro-abortion side has a valid argument.

  • You're right Theskydoctor I'm gonna be stuck working at mcdonalds all my life so you should just shoot me... People say adoption isn't always a choice, I could tell you off the top of my head already 4 people who are trying to get pregnant and can't that would Gladys have your baby. I agree with condoms, birth control, plan b. If you throw an acorn in the trash it's not killing a tree but it's taking away the opportunity to grow into a tree... Anyways I think people need to be involved with personal adoption like giving it to a friend.
