Is it normal to be pressured into excepting the family pervert?

Ok, so when I was 15 I went to visit a relative, he wanted to show me something on the computer, when he turned it on there was child porn all over it, he got nervous and said it was popups, I felt weird and never visited agian. fast-forward several + years and I have 2 very young children, I go to my aunts wedding and he's there, he picks up my eldest and I tell him quite firmly to put him down, my aunt tells me Im making a scene, I tell her why and my family says he mentioned that(the kiddie porn) but it was on there because his work had him take it home to investigate it (he worked for forest service) He also got my address from my aunt cause she had him drop something off and he kept staring at my 1 year old just in a diaper and mentioning how naked he was (I told her never to give him my address and had no idea he was coming) Ever since then my family constantly brings him up in conversation acting like he is this awesome person and even invited him over after that to meet the boys knowing I had no car to leave, I refused and stayed locked in a room till he left, they still ask me to let him see the boys, is this normal? I still could never allow that but why does my family insist so much at this? I found out my childrens fathers family is the same way. I needed their help to move to a place I could afford but will not be in contact after I find a better job and am able to move.

I'm truly sorry that your family is like this! It sounds to me like your family is riddled with denial, codependency and toxic shame which only serves to feed the denial. May I ask if there is any history of drug or alcohol abuse with your uncle or among the rest of your family?

My generation of my family are alcoholics (myself exempt), not so much drug abuse, and I have no idea about my uncle.

I'm sorry to hear that, but it doesn't surprise me. Is this guy your uncle by blood or marriage? Do you have ah cousins by him?

You could turn him in to the authorities anonymously. Possession of child pornography is a felony. When a person possesses and looks at child pornography said person is an accessory to the crime.

It was over a decade ago now and I really have no proof unfortunately accept what I seen. He's an uncle by blood :-( His wife had 2 miscarriages thank goodness. Thanks for listening to me vent, my grandparents told me he was in town and offered to take me over today again, so I am re-aggravated, I can't wait to start over and be done with this dysfunctional "family"

Well, if you ever see that he has that garbage again you can turn him in on the sly. For all we known he could still have child porn. Anyway, stay strong and you ain't gotta visit perverted relatives you don't like, especially with your precious babies. Once again I must commend you on your strength and sense of purpose. I wish you all the best as you start your new life!
            :-)

That's what I was hoping to hear, I wouldn't want to live in a world where this is common place.

Sounds like this could all be sorted out by administering the appropriate beatings where beatings are warranted.

I hope you understand there is a BIG difference between "excepting" and "accepting". Basically totally opposite meanings. Look it up

Maybe they want your relatives to get closer to your kids but don't let him. He'll rape them!

Your whole family probably snatches it.

Look im sorry about this dear this happens to me and my boyfriend with our two kids. I'm only 18! We go to a therapist with the man (my mums mum) and it was sorted.

  • Although what he looks at on his own computer is his business and his alone (yeah, I just said that), you shouldn't feel pressured to accept anyone. If he's not your kind of person, then exercise your right to freedom of association and tell him to kindly piss off.

I can't agree that that's anyone's business to view such things.

    • Really? Its his place to view kids who are being sexually violated and forced into positions of humiliation? That is no ones right, the only reason their is a market for that and these innocent beings are being hurt is because of people like him. Or maybe I'm just sensitive to this cause I had to be the one to see those helpless young children s faces as this was being done to them and I couldn't live if I ever seen my children being abused in this way. That's like someone saying you can strip a child down in your home with no consequences.

      • I could care less about what someone looks at in the privacy of their own home. It's none of my business, nor of yours or the government's.

Allow me to attempt to provoke a bit of thought: If it's your belief that one with an interest in such things is genuinely guilty of a crime, then what's your opinion of people who go online to look at pictures and videos of people (adults as well as the occasional kid) being physically abused? Is watching a shocking video of an innocent person being beaten not very different than actually being the one doing the beating? One person is hurting someone; another person is watching from afar. Is the latter just as guilty of the former? Hell, are they guilty at all? Of course not!

If we criminalize the possession of child porn, I suppose we should also start rounding up proprietors and fans of shock sites - after all, they look at pictures of dead people; that must mean they're murderers.

The difference between what your relative did and "stripping a child down in your own home" is effectively explained by the aforementioned argument.

That's exactly what I think true!

Bullshit! Anyone who gets their jollies off of watching child porn is an accessory to the rape and abuse that is being committed.

I would gladly report anyone who views such material. They can get buggered in jail where they belong!
