Is it normal to be paralysed when i wake up?

This doesn't happen very often but it kind of freaks me out. So what happens is I wake up, I feel myself being conscious (like im aware im awake and not dreaming) , and i try to move my body. try as I might, I can't move a single muscle. I COMMAND my body to move, but can't. It's like I'm paralysed... then after like 2 minutes being paralysed i finally am able to move my limbs. is this normal? (and im pretty sure its not sleep paralysis)

yes it is called Sleep paralysis.

Don't listen to what ms_funion says, that is just a myth legend story that isn't true.

the appropriately definition is "devil sitting on your back". And it sounds like bullsh* to me!

I don't know why it happens but definitely happens to people at young age, though rarely occurs when you are older.

Don't worry the symptom will soon go away.
Sometimes it recently tries to happen to me, and I make sure I use all my might and powers to wake up.
More also I can tell when it might happen to me, that is when I am completely EXHAUSTED if I wake up from a dream.

I would just suggest you use all your power to wake up, if that fails just fall back to sleep man! Because it does get scary if you can't move.

this is because an incubus or succubus demon is sitting on you while you sleep and preventing you from being able to move. it's trying to have sex with you. i'm serious! do a search for Incubus on wiki and you can read all about it.

I get something similar on occasion. When I sleep my body is only MOSTLY parylized, so my arm might flail if I dream about fighting or something. And sometimes in my sleep my arm ends up wedged in a "A" shape behind my head with my elbow sticking up in the air. If you've ever lost the circulation in your foot and it got tingly, this is basically what I get, but at an advanced stage. From what I've experienced, first you get discomfort, then you get tingly, then you go numb, then you lose the ability to move, and then if you lose circulation in a place long enough without moving, apparently that part of your body can literally die and you have to get it amputated... but I've always woken up before it gets that far and just manually pushing it into another position with my other arm is enough to get the blood moving again and regain control of my arm.

  • Sucubus is actually a real hot lady, not a guy, so if I was you, just sit there and man it out

It is sleep paralysis. I experience it often. It's when you are in the REM sleep cycle and your mind becomes conscious. But usually when you're in the REM sleep cycle, your mind is unconscious. And if you didn't know, during the REM cycle your body is paralyzed. So when you experience a SP dream, you are conscious but your body is paralyzed. Oftentimes people experience hallucinatory images with the dreams. There is folklore that says the dreams happen with the presence of an incubus or succubus but I don't know too much about it because to be honest, I'm not interested. Increased stress can cause the dreams (that's usually what does it for me) or certain sleeping positions. Good luck. I know they sure as hell freak me out!

Don't listen to ms_funions. Succubus and Incubus are real but that is a whole 'nother world of topics. You are experiencing sleep paralysis. You enter this when you sleep so that you do not act out what happens in your dreams and wake yourself up. In order get out of this state, just showing signs of wakefulness will alert your brain/body. Though that can be hard, the best way is to try to breath heavy/on your own and consciously. You will at first notice, it will be very hard but will eventually get better and it will dissipate.

  • The same things always happens to my sister!

when you sleep your body goes through several cycles in which you dream/don't dream, sleep more or less heavily, etc.

Right before you wake up, you are in REM sleep (rapid eye movement) during this time, you have the most realistic dreams of all (and your eyes move around, hence the name "REM sleep")

During this time, your body becomes pararlyzed in order to prevent you from getting up and walking around, etc. Basically without this paralysis we would all be acting out our dreams.

    So here's my theory:
You wake up but the paralysis is still not completely gone
I don't know if I'm right but theres a good chance
