Is it normal to be overwhelmed by dreams?

When I sleep, I do the thing where I'm dreaming, wake up, fall back asleep, wake up, fall back asleep, over and over. This results in multiple dreams of all sorts. Now I wish more of these dreams would be the whimsical, ride a dragon through a cloud, kinda dream. But they aren't.

My dreams consist of bad memories. Losing loved ones, moving away from friends, past relationships, etc. When I sleep, I end up dreaming about multiple situations.. I might go to sleep, but by the time I actually get up, all I can think of is the death of my grandfather, my ex-girlfriend, and my grade-school best friend. (Examples)

It's all too much. I've woken up crying multiple times.. More commonly in cold sweat. And I just can't get the dreams out of my thought.

Is anyone else like this? How do you deal with it?

I had a mad dream that reminded me of how messed up my life is, but dreams can be seen as the subconscious comming to life. Obviously there is a lot on your mind that you haven't resolved, you can resolve these issues by probably simply talking to someone about it (a problem shared is a problem halved afterall), either way you need to find a way to get over them.

After those are resolved your subconscious may just let you have the dragon dreams you wanted. Usually when your mind is clear of worry, dreams return to normal madness

Wow that's scary I am the EXACT same way. Waking up again and again, having only bad dreams, and waking up crying. I haven't really figured out how to stop it but I do like dream catchers and I found one that helps a lot. It doesn't stop me from having dreams but I have less of them. Idk if it really works I think it's more of the thought that helps me.

for a while i was dreaming the most horrible nightmares and i wouldnt go back to sleep after just in case the dream would continue, which sometimes they did. check out http://www.dreammoods.com/ to see what these dreams could possibly mean. maybe they are trying to tell you something.
