Is it normal to be on the pill and miss your period?

I've been on the pill for a couple of years now and I'm really good about taking it like I can't remember the last time I forgot to take it but I was suppose to start my period Sunday morning and it is now Friday night (when I normally finish) and I still havnt gotten it.... Could I be pregnant? And could i take an at home pregnacy test or would the hormones in the pill effect the results? I'm 18 if that makes a difference...

    It depends which version of the pill you are taking but missing a period while taking the pill is not uncommon. You can take a home pregnancy test if you're worried. The pill won't have any effect on the results because the tests are looking for the hormone hCG, which is independent of what the pill does. If you have hCG in your body, it means you have a placenta (this is what secretes it). And if you have a placenta, you're pretty much pregnant. The pill won't skew these results.

    It might be normal for some but if you've been taking the same pill for years and all of a sudden you miss for the first time...that's not a good sign.

    Normal, some kinds of birth control can stop your periods completely. And people are different so I'm sure it has different effects on everybody. I'm on birth control and I haven't had a period in about a year and a half. I asked my doctor and she said it's normal. But if you're concerned, I suggest you talk to your doctor. Just to be on the safe side.

    I just think it's really odd because even on the birth control I hav heavy long periods... So I don't get how I can go from that to none

    It's normal. I missed 2 periods in a row so far (I'm on Lo Loestrin Fe) & even before that I had suuuuuper light "periods" if you can even call them that lol
    Since its such a fairly new pill there isn't much about it but good ole people on Yahoo!Answers said their periods just stopped so I'm hoping that's the same for me ._.

    Anyway, I'd prolly just take a test to make sure but I believe its normal.
