Is it normal to be offended if someone doesn't respond to your email?

Is it normal to be offended when a relatively new friend doesn't respond to your emails? I recently made a new friend in class, but they selectively respond to my emails, and I get very offended. I have even told them that it frustrates me when they completely ignore me. Am I being too sensitive and demanding from a person I barely know or do I have a right to expect that what I say will be acknowledged? I think its just good manners to respond when someone else is talking to you. The advice given to me by another friend is that some people are just not emailers and never will be, and expecting them to change is unrealistic. I think that's making excuses for bad behavior. What do you guys think?

If they don't respond, then they are not meant for you.

  • I absolutely hate that too. But then again I understand when some people don't reply. Whenever I am busy I read the message/text and forget like 3 seconds later and rememeber later and keep saying I'll reply later and stuff, but overall forget.
So they probably just do what I do.
Or the straight up don't feel the same way for you, as harsh as that sounds.
    Good luck, my dear friend.

I know what you mean. I Hate that to! its so annoying when you don't even understand why, especially when you seen they've gotten on. I do thinks it rude, like why can't that just at least say bye are something like that. Gosh. Well...yeah i hate that to.

sounds like your a bit too sensitive. yeah its good manners to respond when someone is talking to you, but talking in real life is different to emailing. they might not check their email all the time, and especially as it is a new friend, they might not want to spend all their time emailing you or they might be busy.

Sometimes people just get to busy and might read it and forget to reply back. Also, maybe you should limit your number of emails. If you send a lot they are probably least likely to reply.

I know what you mean. Its like you wait a few days for a response and find nothing in your inbox. I feel ignored and direspected when that happens.
