Is it normal to be obsessed with a dead person?

A lot of my friends think I am so so weird, but I have a complete obsession with John Lennon (particularly during his time in The Beatles) and The Beatles themselves. I love absolutely everything about him and am extremely open with how much I adore him. However, my friends think I am so stupid and don't pay any attention to me and I always get comments such as 'But how can you love a person whose dead?' or 'How do you listen to The Beatles when half of them are dead?'

I am 100% aware that he is dead, and if he was alive would be in his 70's, but I can't even put into words how much I love him. I am always buying things and extending my collection of John Lennon and The Beatles merchandise and memorabilia.

Is it normal to be completely in love and obsessed with a dead celebrity?

      Thumbed you back up! Couldn't agree more. I can't understand why those washed up, old loser are still praised like gods, to this day. I could understand if they were there when that whole stupid "beatle mania" insanity was going on, but now...? -shrugs-

        I wouldn't go that far. I still think they are a good band. Beats the shit out of Nickelback. Overrated doesn't mean bad, just overrated.

          I suppose I did jump the gun with my reply, of course overrated doesn't mean bad, but I tend to believe that they are not only overrated, but bad as well. So to me, the two are almost synonymous. That said...they probably are better than Nickleback, but I would never wish to find out.

    Are obsessions normal? I'm not sure.

    Do they occur often? Yes. Too often. And they are quite unhealthy, in my honest opinion. Especially when they cause you to waste your funds on something that you (hopefully will) get over in a year + from now.

    I think obsessions are bad because most people are out of their right mind when they are obsessed, and can do some pretty dangerous/ridiculous things that they (most likely) will regret once they snap out of it!

    Sorry if I sound rude, but I'm only giving my honest opinion.
