Is it normal to be obsessed with a country?

I'm a teenage girl from Merseyside, England, and for about 9 months, I've been obsessed with Canada. I want to live there. I'm constantly talking about famous Canadians and their achievements. I get excited when I hear a mention of Canada on the TV. I'm always looking for books and movies that are set in Canada. My friend even got me a Canadian flag for my birthday (although I didn't ask her too)
I know it's normal for people to like a particuliar country that isn't their own, but what if you're actually obsessed with this country? Is this normal?

    It is normal. Have you seen every U.S American in the world? Oh my GOD!!

    They have American flags covering every inch of their houses, they say "God bless 'Murica" after every sentence. They only eat food from 'Murica, they think every other country is shit except for 'Murica and the only word in their dictionary is 'Murica.

    They also only dress in red, white and blue and carry around red, white and blue guns and have a horrible health care system. But it doesn't matter because IT'S 'MURICA!!!

    I have this...for the Soviet Union and the Russian Federation. My friends got me a flag for my birthday this year, too :) A Canada obsession's much more normal than a USSR obsession, so you're okay...

    Wahoo! Go Canada :) I hope you can make it over and visit this fine country someday. I would love to visit Europe myself. But yes, Canada is very beautiful.

    I think it's totally normal. I'm absolutely obsessed with Rome. I'm saving money now to visit there. I too get excited if I see or hear any mention of Rome. I have tons of documentaries on it (pretty much every History Channel one). I have huge thick books on Rome and its history and even read about the philosophers of Roman times. I've been in love with Rome since I was eight years old after the librarian did a lesson on it. No one seems to think it's abnormal for me, hope that helps! Canada is very beautiful; I can appreciate why you love it so much.

    when you are old enough to visit Canada, then try it. if you like it, maybe you will decide to make it your home. i wouldn't worry about your obsession unless it was a nasty one, and Canadian living isn't nasty. enjoy the flag!
