Is it normal to be nervous about peeing around the opposite sex?

Is it normal to be nervous and paranoid to go to the bathroom around the opposite sex? I just got into a new relationship with this guy and I can't seem to go around him at his place, I've tried to just go and sit and nothing I've tried water that doesn't work the fan, nope nothin even if I really have to. I usually have this problem with # 2 but that's not bothering me this time it's number one, and now that I started my period it's even more embarassing to go in there with something. This has happened to me with serval other guys but not this bad! I just need som guidence on how to handle this kinda situation! I just don't know why I feel soo neverous around him when it feels so comfortable...

Interesting question. It doesn't matter to me if anyone, M or F, sees me pee at a urinal or outside somewhere, yet I'm inhibited to stand to use a toilet in a home if women are right outside the bathroom and can hear me pee. I feel embarrassed about the sound of me peeing into the water, but don't want to risk peeing on the side of the toilet to pee quietly and miss and piss on the floor. I'll sit to use the toilet. It's not an issue in a public bathroom, but only around women I know.

It is something most people do in private. If your comfortable peeing in front of him and he's comfortable peeing in front of you i say go for it.

if you are talking about sharing the bathroom at the same time there really is no obligation on your part to do that. some couples are ok with it but frankly theres some things I dont want to see my partner doing.

if you are simply self conscious about going to the bathroom alone when you are together at home then relax. he is doing his best not to think about it too.

I hate turning the fan on in other people's house or when someone is at my house. I don't like thinking of the assumptions they will make about my usage of the fan.

Thanks stormeh! I have been turning the fan on which seems to be working!!! And talking about it with other people makes me a little bit less nervous about doing it! It's just taking me some time to get comfortable around him...and u are right I am trying to impress him and the whole dirty and vulgar thing is right!! And I'd rather not pee myself I have already embarassed myself with a blood stain last week!

It might but I have to have liquid courage to talk to him about it...and I wouldn't know how to bring it up!

  • Do you think talking to him & even joking about it might help?
