Is it normal to be more excited about giving a gift than getting one?

My boyfriend and I decided that since he's going to be here at the end of August (we are in a LDR), and our birthdays are so close (mine is in Aug. and his is in Sept), then we'd celebrate them together while he's visiting. I feel like I got him the most perfect gift, I thought about it for a long time and the perfect thing popped into my head. I am so excited about it! It arrives on Tuesday, but he won't be here 'til next Monday. I'm so afraid that I'll spill the beans! I know he's going to love it. Ugh... I'm so excited. Is this normal?

    I love giving gifts. Especially when I've put a lot of thought into it

    I love it when I find a gift like that and can hardly wait to give it. Occasionally wondered what if the recipient doesn't feel the same, but because it is the perfect gift that has never happened.

    I hate giving gifts. It's a serious source of dread for me. But I suck at choosing out gifts for people so that would explain why!

      I don't know about all that, I'm still really excited about my gifts. He's not very good at keeping a secret though so I kinda know what they are, lol.
