Sometimes yea. I don't know why I lose confidence in who I am, but sometimes its a lot easier being some 2-d character I've made up than the full package. It's a wonderfully strange and awful thing.

I'm not sure I'm more confident when I'm in my whites on the bridge of a ship than when I'm at the wheel of my sailboat in a t shirt and board shorts, but I'm certainly a much different person. I have no friends among my crew and nobody calls be by my name, only captain.
Sailing is much more relaxed and fun, and so am I.

Same. What exactly is your character? Do you cosplay or..?

I'm more confident when I'm myself. I get more uncomfortable in situations where I'm trying to be little miss perfect. Why be anyone else when you can be yourself

Well yeah I mean if you're like pretending to be someone, like let's say you're cosplaying as Spike Speigal from Cowboy Bebop then yeah you're totally going to try to be him and not yourself. The character is so much cooler, more confident, and overall does better with people than who you are. I think this is totally normal, because when you're pretending to be someone else, you sort of feel like you can do what they can do.
