Is it normal to be look for new work due to new management?

A few months ago my previous boss (who I got along pretty well with) was let go and the reporting structure has changed. Anyway with all these new changes, they've been messing with my duties and being a lot more critical of what I do.

So is it normal to begin feeling unappreciated and start looking for a new line of work? Like, searching job listings, begin updating my resume, and so on.

I guess the really odd thing is I feel sort of excited about getting out of this rut, even though I'm sure seeking a new job will take months at the minimum?

Maybe they are doing that to push you out.

    Fight the power.

It's difficult to adapt to changes, maybe you should give them a chance and see it as an opportunity to face new challenges and to learn new ways of thinking.

I am in the same organization for six years now and I have known six bosses and very different management style. I have learnt that there are many ways to do right.

    • So your bosses have lasted literally a year or less each? That's really surprising.

Yeah, the first three were on a six months contract, the fourth made 1 or 2 years, the fifth one year and the sixth is on his second month here.

I spent a year helping a man purchase the vessel I was operating. We agreed on many things relating to my remaining with him after he purchased the boat, but as soon as he took over, he changed everything, ignoring our agreement. For instance he immediately proposed that I take a pay cut from $30.00 an hour to $19.00! He sabotaged himself and the business so that the first year of operation cost him a needless 100 grand, but he was happy because he did it the way he wanted to. Needless to say, he did it all without my help.
    Long gone and happy.
