Is it normal to be like this after a breakup?

I recently got back together with my first love after a long separation due to circumstances, including the fact he cheated on me when we'd already been together for 3 years. When we were back together we were together for a bit but his work commitments got in the way, he was acting cold and detached and he expected me to work constantly. Eventually, he cheated on me, again, I found out and then he said he didn't want to try with me anymore and promptly left and kicked me out his apartment.

I'm now unable to stomach food and whenever I try to eat I just feel sick, most of the time food isn't even on my mind, I also flipped out in a grocery store with my friend because I felt so edgy and frustrated and it was all making me feel really ill. I'm a big guy and work out a lot so I need to keep eating to keep my health and not sacrifice my regime for this weird food related emotional stuff. I've not heard of this before and I'm wondering if acting like this is normal or whether I should talk to my GP, what do you guys think?

YES! It is perfectly normal to feel this way after something like that. You were in love and he cheated on you twice. It's okay to feel like that. Don't worry.

Totally normal. But my main concern for you is why on earth did you stay with a person who cheated on you. It probably would have served you well to leave this person the first time the cheating happened.

    • I'm no good at relationships, he's the only one I've been serious with so it's hard letting go I guess. Wonderfully, he now wants to get back with me again and my current 'lover' is hopping mad over it.

    • Yeah I guess that didn't make sense. We were living together but during the argument we were in a hotel room I had booked due to not being allowed in his bed anymore so, he left the room...

So your wondering if its a normal reaction to stop wanting to eat... and that you get agitated after a break up. I dunno, I'd say that pretty normal. The normalest thing about this post is that you recognize you're doing it, and you realize it's a bad thing that has to stop. Just give it time. Force yourself to eat something and apologize to your friend. Better yet, apologize to that friend and tell them about what's got you so down.
