Is it normal to be lazy/afraid to look for job

I keep saying I'll do it tomorrow... I'm 21 and the only job I've had is a student aid job so I've never really ha to look for a Job before. It's a job to find a job and the job I don't want to do. I'm so broke now that ill have to force myself to do SOMETHING!

Unfortunately common for people in your case. The problem is you don't know how to get a job. There are youth career programs at the unemployment office.

Yeah, it can be quite daunting. Spending forty hours a week with people you don't know? Eesh!

But when you've padded the same bit of carpet as them forty hours a week for a few years, you realise you spend more time with them than your family, and in some ways, you're closer to them than your family.

Afraid? No. But jaded, yes. I've become so used to handing out resumes and not getting called back I don't even bother. If they say "sure. Bring in a resume" or fill out an application without speaking to a manager and assessing their hiring situation it's a total waste of time.

Finding a job is a real pain, but you will find unemployment will eventually be an even bigger one. Start by doing a little bit, and the process will become easier with time, and then you'll land a job. And a paycheck!

I was extremely nervous too. Sometimes I got so nervous that I just had no motivation to get a job. After being stuck in a rut for a while I went to a psychologist. Turns out I'm obsessive compulsive (OCD). If your anxiety is stopping you from doing things then maybe it's worth having a chat to someone. Just an idea.

Good luck either way though. I'm sure things will pick up for you.

I hate to be tough with you, but being lazy in this case is not an option. Having a job is a life and death situation, not having a job means having money, and having no money means possible death by starvation. And no, you cannot rely on your parents for support all the time. You're already 21, you're an adult now, take responsibility for your life and go out there and do something.

I have more respect for a man who flips burgers than a man you bums it all day...you are a grown man... stop being scared and go do something, anything.

I fee you. Procrastination is a lot easier that actually doing something. But it's also a lot less rewarding.

    Poor you!

You make me cross! To have no ambition at your age is a disgrace.
I suppose we have to blame the parents for not kicking your ass or dragging you out of bed. In my house, if you don't work - you don't eat! And that's not even formal work, just helping me with chores etc.

But heyho, welcome to the real world.
