Is it normal to be kinder to others than you are to yourself?

My situation is more specific. I will spend more money than I want to for CERTAIN people. I will buy things for them that I would never dream of buying for myself. I value them, so I want to give them something of excellent quality to show them how much I care. Do you do this?

It depends on who the person is of course.

My father did that for me when i was young and unemployed. I do this for my family. My girlfriend did that for me. I guess i know many people who do the same for specific peiple. Its normal and good thing to do.
Money is basically for buying satisfaction. If buying things for others is satisfying you than its good.

There are much better and cheaper ways to show people you care. It's not the gift, but the thought. OK, that's bullshit. What are you gonna buy me?

So common as to be normal, but not healthy for you if you always give and never receive
