Is it normal to be irritated by people who say "and i was like" a lot?
They tend to use "like" as an all-purpose word to compensate for their complete lack of wit or original insight into anything.

I like, seriously hate it. Like, it really pisses me off. Like, I have to assume they are like stupid for saying it. I consider myself to be like smart and I like never say that so like they MUST be dumb for saying that.
Thats funny and I feel ya. Sometimes I catch myself saying it too and im like, you fag.
But like, sometimes it's a great way to pause and think for like, two seconds..
when I read this I was like me too! and then my mom was like ik it's annoying! and my sister was like yeah, I agree.
Guilty, I'm aware I do it only after the fact. It annoys me that I do it.

Yes, people do that outside of America, but it's less common.
I have a question btw, is it only Americans who say it? or are their other English speaking countries(Britain, Australia, Canada) who use it too?

I hate it. But I do it all the time ! But only with people I don't know that well it's like a socially awkward thing I do. & I try sooo hard too not so it then I do it more & can't stop! X
