Is it normal to be intimidated by your huge teenage stepdaughter

I've been married for ten years. When I married my husband, his daughter was 7. Now she's 17 and if very hard to control. I'm really small. I'm 4'10 96 lbs. My stepdaughter is 5'10 150. I would not have a problem with this except for her attitude. She rebels against her father, smokes, drinks, typical teenage stuff. Her fatter went away on business and I had her for a week. It's summer so she's out every night. She does whatever she wants. I told her to be home by 2 as that's her curfew her father sets. Never cane home. She gets home next day and I'm mad and she gets in my face and basically tells me to butt out. When I said dont talk to me like that, she put get arm around my neck, lightly, and pushed me against wall and said leave me alone and we wont have any problems. I tried to break free and I could not budge her arm. For the first time, i got scared as if she could have broken me in half. I'm the mom she is the daughter and she is twice my size and much stronger and I told her dad and he laughed it off. He doesn't realize how easily his daughter can hurt me. Now, I'm just terrified all the time of her and I leave her alone. Is this normal? Does this ever happen where a girl outgrows her mom or stepmom and intimidates her?

    He laughed it off? That's unacceptable. Your step daughter is disrespectful and immature. If she can't make the 2 am curfew, she is clearly irresponsible and can't handle the freedom. Quite honestly, it would have done her some good if you called the cops when she put her hands on you.

    If she rebels by smoking, drinking, and disobeying you two, why does she get a 2 am curfew? Why does she get to go out at all? You are the parent and the adult. It's ridiculous that you have to live in fear of getting physically assaulted by your step daughter. Time to have a discussion with your husband and daughter.

    I was never allowed to act out if I wanted any privileges. Even when I was of legal age, my parents reminded me that I was under THEIR roof and I had to abide by the rules.

    i have a teenage stepdaughter amd she is a whale (literally) her name is pearl i am a crab and the mother is a rape victim it was to dark to see what underwater specie she was

    She doesnt think you really care about her...so what gives you the right to discipline her? Parents give love and discipline...the one grows out of the other....you missed her childhood and therefore that strong bond isntthere...leave the discipine to him...he needs to set the boundaries and rules....you however can let him know that if he doesnt then he risks losing your love and respect....

    Don´t demonstrate fragility. It´s not necessary to beat the girl. But you must prove who is in charge at home.

    Increase your muscle mass. Make it look as though your muscles could cause her pain if she ever were to pull those behaviours with you again. I'm not saying that you should beat her senseless or beat her at all, but you need to assert dominance like Suzy Orman does when she's wearing plaid flannel and giving financial advice. You need to own that room aka your house. Let her know that you are in control and that she should respect her elders.
