My husband and I were having a conversation the other day when sometime during the course of it, he ended up showing me a clip of Star Trek, TNG, of which he is a fan of himself. (Not a trekkie, but a fan, might I add...). I saw it and had to watch the whole episode and after watching the whole episode, I watched another, and another, and another...

I can't believe it! I've never felt such a compulsion to sit down and watch something on TV! This is a fantastic show! Is it normal to be instantly hooked on this?

    Is that the one with the ageless Patrick Stewart? I loved his time on that series. I swear that man must be an elf.

    There are SOME concepts in Star Trek (Original, TNG, and Voyager series), that are important for understanding our Universe. Sadly though, there are other concepts that are purely fictional (but sometimes nevertheless entertaining).
    There is a reason for the novel ideas that Gene Roddenberry introduced us to.

    I'll get the blasphemy out of the way early: I didn't like Star Trek.

    My sister (who didn't like Star Trek either) kept telling me I'd like TNG but I kept making jokes about it. I saw the opener of one and was so taken with it, I watched the whole episode. And lo, it was good. I was instantly hooked, the same way you are.

    I'm jealous that I've seen every single one and you've still got that pleasure to come. Some of them are breathtakingly good.

    P.S. When you're done with them all, then you've got Voyager. That was pretty great too. Especially when Tuvok goes back to 1990s earth and decides to dress as a rapper. Oh, look, said I, it's Tuvok Shakur. And my girlfriend of the time wet herself. :)

      I was considering, once finished with TNG, to watch the original Star Trek and then go with Voyager. I used to dislike Star Trek as well, but I actually saw an episode and I was so captivated!

      My father, interestingly enough, is named Kirk. Yes, after THAT Kirk.

        I'm all excited on your behalf! There's a recurring character in TNG (and Voyager) called Q, and pretty much time he's in an episode, you know you're in for something great. I'm actually going to cut this short because there is so much I could say, and ruin things for you. I'll just let you get through it in your own time. If you ever post any stories about specific TNG episodes you've seen, though, you know I'll be replying to them. :)

    i have star treak in a box in my room and have not watched it i can't get myself to watch it its being in the box for 3 years.

    The next generation is by far the best star trek series, you should watch deep space 9 next though as it is also really good. The original series sucks major balls, if you don't believe me watch this 2 minute video.
