Is it normal to be insecure about skinnyness?

I have always been skinny. I just have fast metabolism. Everywhere I go people always comment on me. "Are you anorexic?" You're like a chicken ! Don't you eat at all?! What's wrong with you?"

Is it normal to feel insecure about this? Because I never wear short sleeves without a jacket on. My parents also tells me things like "Your so skinny. Your like a skeleton." it doesn't help.
So is it normal to feel insecure?

Same here! People think that it is totally rude and just wrong if you comment on the weight of "bigger people" but they think that its alright to just say things, really really insulting things like "are you anorexic? Do you even eat?" to skinny girls! It makes me incredibly self conscious and I totally agree with you. And it needs to stop.

I'm the same way! Instead of getting made fun of for being fat, people pick on me for being skinny. And I'm not anorexic. It sucks.

Sadly we are living in an obesity centered culture where people would never dream of picking on someone for being fat but think its fine to make fun of people who are naturally skinny. Many people may be jealous, or simply not understand it is your metabolism and be concerned for you. There is nothing wrong with how you look. Unfortunately there isnt really a way to stop people from saying it. If I were you, I'd come up with some smart responses to shut people up. Or simply say, "That's incredibly rude" next time someone tries it.

dont listen to anybody that tells you to change who u r . so what ur skinny. thats wat everybody wishes they were. dont let them hate.so what u rnt as curvy as somebody. get ur self a pair of superskinny jeans a tight shirt a nd some nice shoes. show off you shape. cause so what ur not as shapley as other5s, so what. let other think what they want, if they were that skinny the wouldnt be talking like its a bad think.

LET YOUR HATERS BE YOUR MOTIVATORS

I would suggest doing some weight-lifting and calisthenics to build some visible muscle. Then you will be able to say, "Uhm, I'm skinny, but that doesn't mean I'm not strong." Its a good defense. Not that *I* am skinny, but I know that when I see a super-skinny girl with muscle I'm much less apt to wonder "Is she sick?"

  • Nothing wrong with this. And you're slim not skinny. Don't sweat on things other people might think about you!

  • I don't experience this but my best frend does. Everyone asked her if she eats and she does and she eats normally so she's healthy. If u eat then yes it is normal

I hate it, I'm 20, and Weigh just under 120. Its not really your fault though, its just your body type. Its called Ectomorphic. Google it and you'll find some good diets/meal plans to help you gain some weight!
