Is it normal to be inconsistent in your will to do your artwork?

Recently I've been finding that I will draw and design a lot for a period of time (recreationally) and then have, what I suppose you would call a "dry patch".

However recently it seems my drought is over, once again I want to be creative and everything I see seems to turn in to a walking sketch. I've started drawing again :).

I have gone in and out of countless art phases. Sometimes you just feel it and go. Just keep doing it.

totally the same with me only that my dry patches are far more numerous and longlasting than my creative times :(((

Throw some burnt sienna on the canvas any which way. Make bold crazy strokes. Don't analyze it, just do it. Stand back and you'll see a bunch of images starting to form. Have fun!!

I have this happen too, especially when I have personal/family issues. I loose my creativity when I am under pressure.

Happens to me too. You just can't create unless the inspiration hits.

  • The muse comes and goes for many artists. When I was in art school and had lost my motivation to paint, I would look through my kaleidoscope or visit art museums and enjoy the work of artists that I admire.
