Is it normal to be in love with a fictional character?

Assuming that everyone is familar with Stephenie Meyer's Twilight Saga, I am in love with Jacob Black. I know that he is not real and can never be with me but that still does not stop me from obsessing over him. What should I do?

Okay,1:What I have to say to you for liking twilight; GTFO! 2:What I have to say to you for being in love with a fictional character; It is totally normal!I'm in love with a bunch of anime characters; Inuyashsa,Koga,Sesshomaru, and grown-up Shippo!(From Inuyashsa) and Edward Elric (From fullmetal alchemist) I'm also in love with alot of characters in books:Duzzle, and Darius (From Vampire Games) Oh yeah! And Owen,(From let me in) and umm......shit!......is that really all I can think of right now?!......well you get the point!

I think it's normal, because if you didn't fall in love with the character, then that means the author/actor/director/writer/editor/artist or whoever it is, isn't doing their job right. The writer or actor or whoever it is that contributes towards the creation of the character only REALLY creates the first half of the character, you the reader/viewer then develops thoughts, feelings, and maybe even expands upon the character in your own mind. BUT, if you don't have real relationships in your life, or if you're comparing your boy friend to Jacob, then that's a pretty serious problem.

Yes it is normal to get attached to fictional characters.
You don't need to do anything as long as you're still making connections with real people. I read some really incredible books (in my opinion) when I was younger and the same thing happened to me. You'll get over it though and you'll realize that it has a lot more to do with an author's ability to create a beautifully developed character than it is about you actually loving him.

no, this is not normal. you need to get over your obsession and start living in reality QUICK! here is what you need to do:

1)create a jacob black voodoo doll. i suggest a crumpled up paper bag but your dogs chew toy will work as well

2)grab a sharp object and repeatedly stab the voodoo doll while stating out loud "you're not real! you're not real! you're not real!" bonus points if you state those words after each stab

3)place the object in the fire and incinerate

    4)get a boyfriend

    and just for safe measure..

5)burn all of the twilight books. better yet, go to every book store purchase every copy even ask your friends to "borrow" their copies so you can burn them as well

    enjoy!!!

    Hiya,

I've made a calendar for a fictional character I like because the one that was available wasn't that good. I've got all 3 of “his” books. I even wrote a song about him. He says sensible things that people would say in real life. I'm happier than I would've been had I not known who he was. Lots of women seem to feel the same way -- I even heard of one who's 85! -- so I'm not worried.

You should read The House of Night series. At least the camps in there aren't made of glitter. But yes it is weird to be obsessed with a fictional character. BUR oddly enough it's common.

You can be in love with anyone, fictional or real. After all, the heart loves what it loves.

  • Start reading new books so that it will take your intense focus off of the character of Jacob Black. I know that will be hard though with another movie coming out and all the publicity surrounding it. You might like "Poison Study" by Maria Snyder.
