Is it normal to be in love with a fictional character?

to give context.. i'm not gonna be naming the character but i first learned of them a few years ago. i thought they were cool and that was that. years later i get real into the source material and i absolutely fall in love with this character, i mean head over heels like. everything they do makes me so happy and they make me feel complete, i really love them like a real person + wish they were real

Fictional characters are often created to be what most would consider idealistic. In many cases their bodies can be improperly proportioned to be more attractive, their eyes being an abnormal thus beautiful colour, their body being slender and toned in some places while large and.. buoyant in others. Major traits of appearance and personality are often carefully selected to appeal to the majority of onlookers. Like in most advertisements and business' the idea holds strong "Nothing sells better than when one has a beautiful woman present". It can be hard for 3D women to compete with 2D ones that were specially modelled to appeal to us after all.

TLDR it's completely understandable, they're modelled to look the best to attract the most attention.

i think it's okay to have a fictional character you adore and have a crush on and would like to come to life (or you're even obsessed with them), but the feelings shouldn't be the same as those for someone you actually fall in love with in real life

Same here buddy, same here. Except they don't need to be real. My imagination's better than reality anyway.

It's normal. At least for me. I am completely infatuated with a fictional character and they bring me immense joy.

It's understandable to have feelings for a fictional character and to wish them to be real, because it's the ideal person for you, and there may very well be someone with similar characteristics very close by. I wish you all the luck

It’s pathetic and unusual for an adult to be so obsessed with a fictional character
