Is it normal to be in constant pain?

So, I was in a bad accident years ago, couldnt walk for weeks. The docs tell me I have neropathy in my legs, fibromyalgia, and this never ending pain in my side. Went to the docs time and time again (even had a colonoscopy done) and they can't figure out whats causing this pain. One doc said scar tissue, but it wouldn't hurt this bad.
I'm on tramadol, and lyrica and they don't help at all, I've had cat scans, m.r.i's .. And no explanation.... I don't know how long I can keep going like this, I've been dealing with it for many years now hoping that my body will stop hurting so much. It's starting to wear me down ( people at work thought I had terets because I would curse and double over because of the pain)
It's starting to affect my memory to the point where I have trouble remembering what I did the day before ....
I'm at the end of my rope here people a.k.a extremely desperate!!!
Anyone else going threw something like this or knows anyone who has???
p.s. Don't bust on my grammar mistakes( lol)

My sister has neuropathy also. She smokes weed. It helps with the pain

I know someone who has been in constant physical pain(she describes it as "stabbing pain") and it is all over her body. The weird thing is though, she's been in excruciating pain since she was first diagnosed about fifteen years ago. She claims it's constant and no exaggerating. She also has Fibromyalgia and another disease, MS. But you would never know she was in pain by looking or talking to her.

It is so weird to think of how some people aren't in any pain at all.

It's normal, I think, but it shouldn't be!!

P.S. Be careful with tramadol. I got addicted and now have seizures even if I haven't taken the medicine for like 6 months. Bleh!

I'm sorry to hear about your pain. How is the alternative treatments going. Have you tried seeing an all natural doctor?

I am very sorry that you are experiencing this. This happens sometimes after someone has had a physical trauma and doctors do no know why. There is a sector of the mental health world that may be helpful to you. Although this pain is real, and not imagined, mental health specialists can help to cope with pain and try to return to a more normal life a work and social life. They can also give skills to compensate for the symptoms such as forgetfullness. Psychologists, nurses, and occupational therapists are usually part of team called 'chronic pain' which treats persons of all types of on-going pain that cannot be otherwise medically 'cured.' I hope you find some relief and can return to your life!

I'm sorry to hear about all your pain. I had injections in my spine a few times. It's worth it. I didn't feel like a disabled person while it lasted. I eventually had to have surgery to remove the bone spurs. That was totally worth it also. If you trust your doc, go for it. Yes it's scary. But I have a life now.
Good luck. I will be thinking of you.

Told my doc I'm desperate ... Told me that I could possibly get something in my back to block the pain for a few weeks or months. I'll try it but not happy with having to f with my spinal cord :0(
To the posts about Mary j... That stuff makes me act stupid ... Then again this pain is taking a pretty big mental toll I have trouble remembering things ... I don't need any more issues with my head lol

The place where the pain hurts the most ( where it causes me to double over) is on my left side, above my hip bone. sometimes it feels like I have broken shards of glass there that feels like it's mashing my insides. Other times when it's Bearable it feels like something is clawing at my side. The neropothy isn't soo bad, but it's amazing how dying nerves hurt... Lol I'm starting to sound like Debbie downer on good days the pain is up to... 5-7 ( I've givin up going to the hospital when it's like that because all they say is " we don't know" I've been to many docs and the one I'm going to now listens but I don't think she can help me ( gave me tramadol and lyrica ) I've been keeping my head down and bearing the pain but enough is enough... A person can only take so much. Lol don't get me wrong it's not like I'm gonna jump off a bridge or anything like that, but I really don't wanna start self medicating... I'm pretty sure that is going in the wrong direction but I'm out of options.
I even told my wife that if a doc would accept my money I'd have him go in and just cut whatever isn't critical out ...
I'm posting on here to see if anyone else is in this kinda problem ( and please grammar nazi's I'm just typing without caring about mistakes). ;0)

Have you tried acupuncture? It is great for pain management. There are certain foods (beef, tomatoes, processed foods, sugar)you should avoid because they trigger inflammation. While foods like salmon can help your body function properly. (any many more)

You may also want to look into doing physical therapy in a swimming pool if you haven't already.

I hope you find relief soon.

Hi, where exactly is the pain and would you be able to describe the pain such as an ache, burning, stinging, stabbing etc. Also, is there anything that alleviates the pain such as change of position, light touch, firm grip. Is the pain constant or intermittent? On a scale of 0 to 10, 0 being no pain and 10 being the most excruciating pain ever (like having your leg chopped off without anaesthetic) where is your pain? Is the pain worse at night or during the day?

  • That sounds truly terrible; I'm sorry you have to go through all that and still don't have any concrete answers.

    Have you tried marijuana?

It's natural, safe, and extremely helpful. Unfortunately, it's still illegal in some countries, but if you're okay with that, then I suggest you give it a go.

I've also heard that hypnotherapy can sometimes help as well.

Marijuana is not as safe as many people think that it is. It causes hallucinations, that may not go away after use. It ruins people's lives from addiction. It reduces work performance and is dangerous when driving or parenting. Lots of things are 'natural' and that does not make them safe - like poisonous mushrooms. If you are getting it illegaly, there is a risk of having many other dangerous substances mixed in such as cocaine, LSD, etc. I understand that it does help many people, and I am happy for them. But many people do not understand the risks invovled.

  • I think u should go to the doctor and demand an answer for this pain. It's not fair that u have to deal with this pain everyday. They're doctors and they gotta give u an answer or they don't know what they're doing If they're not then try somewhere better!
