All my family and friends say I'm good, but I don't believe them, especially when I'm exposed to artists who are so much better than me on the Internet.

this is so true, my parents are always all happy with what i draw and wanted me to even do family portraits for christmas but like...i think they look way too animated and not realistic at all compared to what some of my friends and other peoples sketches. you are always your own toughest critict tho (:

I hate most of my art, even when I've never heard another person say it was bad. And I mean, not one person has ever said I can't draw. Ever. And yet I feel I'm not good.

Art is in the eye of the beholder. She may not fancy your stuff... but it doesnt mean that others dont. Dont let this lady get you down. If it makes you happy and feel good to do your art, then thats all that matters. Negatively comes with everything, just ignor it the best you can. : )

art is not in the eye of the beholder. if it feels good? sounds like grammar school grading. but yeah, don't let visual illiterates tell you if you're good. but don't go for just feeling good unless it's therapy. talk to a few good professional artists that you respect.

I have talked to a few professional artists that i really liked and they basically talked down to me and acted as if i were nothing.... so talking to a professional artist doesnt mean anything at all..... and because of that experience, i dont like them anymore. Not everyone is out to make money off of it.... so yes "if it feels good"... art is a way to express yourself so really in a sense art is a type of therapy in general.

Yes, totally normal. I'm going to school for photography and my family says all the time how amazing I am. My mother always says she is so proud of me (first thing she's ever said that with) but I think I am absolutely terrible half the time.

This pretty much sums up any artist worth their salt. Bad artists will brag. Also, real artists don't water, just coffee.
