Is it normal to be gender confused?

I really don't think of myself as a gender. I know that I'm born a sex but as far as what gender I identify myself as, I don't think of myself being either male or female, rather I'm a mix of the two or I'm just neither one.

At times I wear make up, get my nails done and wear a dress at other times, I'm wearing a button up shirt, a nice tie, and a vest.

People often ask me if I'm a boy or a girl and I never deny what I am but nobody believes me because I can "pull off" as either gender.

Ahh you`re gender-queer! Google it. It just means you don't identify with a gender. You're just you. :-)

Everybody who is a little confused... This person knows what SEX he or she is but does not know what to identify as GENDER! There is a difference gender is what a person identifies as and not what they were genetically coded to be! so 'looking down your pants' wont help! If you feel comfortable not Identifying that is your choice. Why should we create social bonderies we are all human we are all nearly the same! Live and identify (or not) as whatever you want!
Btw people start being open minded about things and you might actually learn something in life:)

I am also genderqueer... in that I possess male and female attributes together. Actually... I stopped being able pass as a girl awhile ago, which is funny because that is my biological sex. haha! If you want to do it both ways have fun! I do. ;-)

Aussiewolf and MadMar, you're confusing "sex" with "gender."

It's not normal, but that doesn't mean it's bad. If your comfortable then fine. If it's causing you problem then just stick with the gender you were born with if you can pull off either.

You could be an Androgyne, like me, or something else. Is it a bad thing? No. I suggest look up a list of gender identities.

  • :) Gender is a spectrum after all, dear. Perfectly normal, besides what anyone else might tell you. Just find out for yourself where you feel the most comfy.

Play both sides of the fence and enjoy yourself. Wish I pass either way.

Sometimes. Some people maintain we are all bi-sexual under the right circumstances.

I think it's normal. I'm a female and the only time I act "girly" is when I'm with my boyfriend. That's the only time that side of me comes out. Otherwise, I just hang out with guys, say gross things, and I've told people before, "I was meant to be a guy," simply because I don't identify with females and a lot of their behaviors/interests.

if you were born with a penis, then you are a boy. if you were born with a vagina, then you are a girl. if you were born with both, then you are a hermaphrodite and then and ONLY then can you be confused on what sex or gender you are. just because i wear jeans and drive v8s and drink beer (all manly things), that doesnt make me gender confused, i just like different things.
look down your pants and see what genitals you have and you wont be confused anymore.

Completely agree with aussiewolf. You are whatever genitalia you were born with. I'm a female. I don't always were make up, actually rarely wear make up. I get along with males better then females, I play video games, I tend to have rather gross conversations and actions and not care what others think of me. I shoot guns, enjoy fishing and baseball. I have a masculine way of thinking and views. But I'm definitely all woman.
