    Homosexuality is a normal expression of genetics in humans and many other animals.

    People are homophobic because it conflicts with the gender roles that have been programmed into them by their culture. Masculinity in many modern cultures includes being heterosexual and it is seen as immoral or wrong for men to not meet or attempt to meet that standard.

    Perceiving this as immoral they then feel that it is a danger to society and therefore fear it. Also by believing that the behavior is driven by choice they then believe that it could spread making them fear it more. This fear is then used to justify unsavory socially conservative positions such as fundamentalist Christianity because they believe defined gender roles are integral to the functioning of society.

    Statistically, it is normal. About 15 percent of US males are gay. That's 15/100 males in the US being gay. Not GREAT odds but good enough.

      Why are there so many posts about being gay? Can't homos just live life without having to be the topic of conversation all the time? It's a good thing God didn't make Adam and Steve or the human race would've died out back then. Be about more than just being gay. Don't just be one-dimensional.

    in alot of societies gay people were accepted but due to the rise of Christianity and Islam ppl were killed and out of fear and hid their sexuality but now its becoming more and more accepted once more

    native Americans treasured gay ppl we were called "two spirited"

    also ancient Greece gay sex was socially acceptable and in japan samurais had relations with each other and it was considered more honorable

    If you are gay then yes it is normal to you, and most people are so homophobic because being gay is something they are not used to and obviously dont know anything about, it is normal for you but just different to other people

        It is actually true that many homophobics have homosexual feelings and are (or act) homophobic to hide it.
        That is -of course- by far not the only reason for homophobia. I think that religion plays an important role, too.

            Heterophobia exists, that is true (but is not limited to gay persons).
            But while homophobia is (sadly) somewhat common, heterophobia is extremely rare, possibly found in way less than 0,1% of the population.

              So-called homophobia is attributed to many who don't condone that lifestyle. Gays are using that political card demonizing those who don't agree with their choice.

              I'm sure I would be described as a homophobe just because I subscribe to biblical principles. It's a way to paint someone as a hater or intolerant. The best way to achieve their goals is to demonize anyone who doesn't want gay marriage by saying they're in denial of being gay themselves lol or paint them as a hater.

              It demonstrates how our country is in a moral decline because we used to be a God fearing nation.

      The question is "is it normal?", not "how many of you are gay".
      BTW it isn't exactly clear how many homosexuals are in the population, the numbers mostly are between 5 and 12 percent.
