i agree that is a bit irritating. although I find it way more irritating when parents (usually mothers), refer to their childs age by months. I understand if it's under the one year mark, but when a mother says 'my baby is 36 months old...' I just want to carve out their eyes with a spoon. can't they just say '3 years old'?

No matter how old we get, we are always still a baby.

It's not a matter of caring but a matter of it being ANNOYING!

I only heard recently that it's an Irish thing that all Irish mothers call their kids 'bird'.

So we call out, "Come on, bird!" or "Hurry up, wee bird!" It's coz they were once delicate and fragile to us, even if they are a big strapping lad of 6'2" he will always be his mommy's 'wee bird'.

My 'baby' is my dog and she's bout 8yo.

So my son knows it's not him, if I holler, "Come in baby!"

We've loads of terms of endearment - but husbands get called very few of them, maybe 'pet' or 'hon'.

    haha ;o)

My mom and Nana call all of their kids and grandkids babies no matter how old we are. It's just a mom/grandma thing.
