Is it normal to be eating paper, cardboard, erasers, or plastic?

I find myself eating non food stuff a lot, including paper, cardboard, and erasers; the taste, in my opinion, isn't bad. So, how bad is it actually, to be eating these kinds of things? Is it bad or is it normal to be doing so?

Obviously its not...its a mental disorder called pica. If you feel a compulsion to eat thus crap do your best to ignore it. Go eat something with vitamins maybe you're seriously lacking something.

This condition is common enough to have a name: Pica. Depending on what you're eating (erasers do not sound healthy!) it can be harmless or extremely dangerous.

I went through a stage as a child when I was confined to bed for weeks with a broken leg, of tearing off the corners of books I was reading and then eating it. It became a habit I held on to for some years and I can't remember now why I stopped doing it, maybe embarrassment at the tattered appearance of my beloved books.
