Is it normal to be creeped out by aphex twin?

Don't get me wrong, Aphex Twin is a genius and his music is absolutely amazing, but aside from that, the guy really creeps me out.

It depends on what exactly the situation is: he can either be simply weird (Windowlicker album cover), disturbing ("Come to Daddy" and "Windowlicker" music videos; "Richard D. James" album cover), or just plain scary. I can't stress that last one enough: I'm specifically referring to the self-portrait on his "... I Care Because You Do" album. That cover frightened me when I was a kid and it still frightens me today, even as an 18 year old guy. IIN?

    It is good to know that I am not the only one. He has a few albums with that creepy face on it and because of those covers, I refuse to buy those albums. Some of his music unsettles me. I haven't really seen his videos. I've seen about one or two, but I don't remember them.

    When I first saw the come to daddy video really late at night, it creeped me out so much i changed channels.

    I'm sure like some other musicians, he just acts creepy for fun, you know, a gig.

    My favorite album is Selected Ambient Works Volume II,
    and my favorite is Stone In Focus.
    The music from those ambient albums remind me of my dreams and nightmares.

    He's actually a good-looking guy with a great smile but, with his features all distorted like that, he looks quite creepy indeed. Yuck.

    Small narrow-narrow set eyes have been associated with villainy for a long time and there's a simple reason for it. In the same way a symmetry of facial features is valued, there are some physical traits which are loathed. Underdeveloped facial features are some of them. There's a logical theory for it too;it's a survival instinct which prevents us from breeding with people who have genetic mutations/deformities.

    Another thing which naturally repels us from people, is any display of severe madness. The cover of the Care Because You Do album shows him with a maniacal grin. That, in facial expression terms, means stay away at all costs. No wonder you are fearful of his visual flair. :)

    Sure. Have you ever listened to Boards of Canada? I think it's kind of similar, and I love the music although it's "creepy". Some other good ones like that are Amon Tobin ("Bad Sex", "4 ton mantis"- especially the video) and Luke Vibert/Wagon Christ (''Memory Towel'')

      If you're really into to that, and don't mind a recommendation, I think the band "Tycho" has some good techno beats. Listen to Human Condition by Tycho, I think you'll like it.
