Is it normal, to be confused over america's laws?

I was born in america and there are some laws that I'm baffled about. For instance, the legal age of consent in my state is 16 yet, it's not considered to be the overall legal age which is 18. It seems to me that the age of consent would also be the age that you're considered to be a adult. In my state, it used to be that you could get a drivers license at 16, but they apparently dropped it. You can get a drivers permit when you're 16, but people tell me that you can't drive a car unless you're older. The main thing that I find strange is that at 18 you're considered a adult, but you can't drink unless you're 21. At 18, you can join the army yet, you can't drink. Does this make any sense?

    I think 40 is an adult, one should have to wait till 41 to drink but should be able to smoke cannabis at birth.

    America's laws are nonsensical. There are also so many of them that chances are you have committed a number of felonies without even knowing it. And it has been getting worse faster for many years.

    I'm wondering why guys can't just get liquor for showing their military IDs. If you've signed your life away to your country, you should be able to knock a few shots back without worrying about the law.

    I think that's a little weird too. At 18 you could most likely own a gun, but you can't buy alcohol? I think guns are a greater responsibility.

    I've always wondered that, too. Years ago, some states had different drinking ages for beer and liquor.

    My dad was also telling me that he knew a guy who had a driver's license when he was 14 and he wasn't the only one. You could apply for a hardship license and get one.

    Im in Denmark you cant smoke here before your 18 but strangely enough you can start drinking when your 16 and i personally consider 20 to be adult...

      That's pretty dumb really. Would be better if both were only allowed for the over 18s.
