Is it normal to be confused about your gender until puberty?

So I am a female in my late teens but when I was younger I thought I was a boy and I was actually convinced of this until I was 13 and I got my period for the first time. I was so sure I was a boy and I used to check my birth certificate/ID over and over again thinking they had made a mistake when they put female. The thing is, it still bothers me that I'm a girl. Do a lot of people feel this way/go through this?

You could be transgendered and that's completely normal :)

Some people think they were born in the wrong body, but I wouldn't say it's normal because I have no experience with that. I don't understand why you would need to check your birth certificate when all you had to do was check your genitalia. Unless you have a penis there is no need to question your gender.

Normal. It took me 19 years for me to finally realise that I was androgyne. Prior to this, I on and off believed myself to be transgendered. It happens. Don't stress it too much. Read up on different gender identities. Good luck. :)

getting your period at 13 should put your whatever to bed once and for all: this confusion about one's sex is a myth except for a small percent the majority of accept their beautifulness having a penis or vagina coming from the intimatacy of the womb: Now so do the smaller percent love their bodies down there but until they talk it through with what I think should be their parents guardians family who out of their love for them will dierect them to the seek professional guidance : All human beings are born beautiful I am beautiful

    I think I'm a genderless form and forget that I'm a girl.
