Is it normal to be black and not feel comfortable around black people

There have been times when I've had homicidal thought about my own people...don't get me wrong I know I come from and won't change my upbringing for anything but since 15 I've been exposed to so many different cultures and I just naturally feel more comfortable around white ppl. I don't think whites are better by a long shot but my mind and body is just more at ease around them.

White people aren't better. They can do/will do/have done terrible things, just like colored people. And Chinese people. And Indians. Etc.

    We're all assholes.

Maybe you feel a greater expectation to live up to a self-perpetuated stereotype when around other black people to 'act black'? Personally I like being around a range of people from a range of cultures and backgrounds, it adds a bit more interest, but I rarely get the chance because in my experience most minorities gravitate towards each other and remain insulated.

Culture thing? There's black people that aren't ghetto, if that's what you mean? The media throws this stereotype of all black people being ghetto. Its not true. There's white people that are ghetto. Its not skin color, its culture. Ever seen a black English person? Yes, perfect received pronunciation Queen's English accent. Pretty sure that person id's as British (well, specifically since England has a variety of regions this accent is from London, Oxford and Cambridge). You're just more mainstream American, I guess? Perhaps you picked all the mainstream stuff up at school and through tons of media, your friends, or wherever.

Maybe you're like Carlton from the Fresh Prince of Bel Air?

You're not alone. You feel comfortable with whom you feel comfortable is all I see in it.
