Is it normal: to be bitter of one's happiness?

In my case, my ex and I broke up 1 year ago and I just got a boyfriend 3 months ago, whom I really like. After I ignored him, he bugged me for 4-5 months to become his "friend"; now we have an awkward friendship. I'm not interested in getting back with my ex, but since he dumped me I don't want to see him happy either. I think he has a new gf and for some reason I'm bitter. We usually play games together once a day and now I just want to avoid him altogether. What would you do? Is that normal?

I would say its very normal but not justifiable at all. But that is how people work.

You could be feeling like this for allot of reasons.

  • You basically wanted leverage over your boyfriend but didn't get it. Now you're pissed. Am I correct?

Not at all, I wanted proper closure. I would say I'm bitter because he never really gave me closure when I helped him through a lot of emotional trauma. It hurts to see that he could respect someone he just met more than I.

      • Then I read you wrong. Your bitterness is justifiable. I say that you should just ignore the guy if he treats you with less respect than anybody else.
