Is it normal to be be angry when people expect rich people to donate

It makes me so angry!

It's their money. They've worked for it and can spend it how ever they want. I can't stand when people expect the well-off to donate.

I can't stand all these people that expect donations. Like, go and get a job if you want something. They shouldn't have to finance everyone else just because they can!

Average people aren't expected to give away money or make donations, so why are they?

Am I the only one who thinks like this?

but its hardly fair that some people are extrodanarily wealthy when others are dying of starvation and diseases that could be easily cured. i'm not rich and i still donate to charities. i think everyone that has enough money should donate a bit, we cant force people too, but its the right thing to do.

To the first poster..fair? Life will never be fair. I seriously think that's the worst argument ever. Should a victorias secret model be forced to get plastic surgery to become uglier?..because it sure isn't fair to be so pretty when compared to an average looking girl. Should funny people be forced to become more boring? Because its not fair for people who lack such a sense of humor. Quit being close minded. Money isn't the only thing in life that comes with inequalities!

That was really not much of an argument... Giving to the less fortunate is indeed HELPING someone. How is plastic surgery on a model helping anyone? On that note, you know what some models are doing? They release to the public pictures of themselves without all the make up and the photo shop to HELP young girls with body issues know, that no one is perfect. Sure, no one should be force to donate if they have the extra money, because then it would be a tax not a donation. When I donate, its directly to the people. And helping a family who needs it and can't help themselves is rewarding. How would you feel, being unable to support your own family?

Of course people expect them to donate. Because they have money to spare. Rich people have the power to make a change.

If a bully walks in everyone's going to expect the strong guy in the room to set him straight. The little guy won't try to set him straight. But the strong guy has the power to do so.

    Conscience?

Yea but he's saying that rich people are expected to donate. And if they don't they look like assholes which it shouldn't. Cause people who complain about rich people not donating usually don't donate them selves. Also donating makes you feel good like your playing a role in saving someones life that's why alot of people do it but you shouldn't be looked down on if you dont

A study in this country showed that people classed as rich donate about 1.2% of their money to charity while poorer people donate 2.1%. If this was taken as a percentage of discretionary income, after the bills are paid, the gap becomes much higher.

You could look at it the other way around, though, and prove that rich people are giving more to charity than poor people (albeit sharing less in real terms).

Either way, it's none of anyone's business what people give to charity. It's their decision.

Yes I agree. It is because they know that most of the money that is actually donated, doesn't go to actually assisting in cures etc. It goes to the people who work for the charity and funding their new cars and houses. Whether I was rich or poor, I would never donate to any charity. The only way I would help is by donating food or clothing and even then, I would actually do it myself and not giving it to the people who work for the charity. They ALWAYS skim off the top, just remember that.

I agree. A donation can be made by anyone, even a homeless guy. Who says it has to be money. A real donation is when one feels the loss they are giving. A child may have 10 dollars allowance and they'll feel every dollar they give away. A man with a hundred bucks would feel similarly the same giving 10 dollars. And who says less money leads to more financial struggles?

  • Donations aren't only for those that are poor, I hopeful know that. You can donate to find a cure for a disease so you're argument of people needing to get their own job and make their own money. What you're thinking of is well fare.

And as Josie said it's easier for those that are well off to donate some money then someone who is already was struggling.
