Hello,

I'm a 24 year old engineering undergraduate student.

I pissed away most of my college years by staying in isolation in my room. I haven't made any real friends in college and have not ever had a girlfriend in my life.

Also, I'm a virgin.

Most of my time is spent noodling on my guitar, reading internet news articles, and occasionally watching pornography.

This may have something to do with a rather rough separation from my religion of catholicism at age 17.

can anyone else identify?

    Your'e not pathetic for being a virgin! There is nothing wrong with being a virgin. I'm 21 and I'm a virgin and I'm glad I am. One day you'll meet the right person. Don't lose something so important in a gross one night stand.

    Don't call yourself pathetic! It's no big deal really- to be a virgin I mean. And the whole Catholicism thing, well I think all religions are just different paths to the same thing anyway. You should make some friends, or get out of the house at least. I feel so much better when I have social interaction of some kind.

    It's not pathetic, but you do need to get yourself a girl and some mates. You are missing out on tons of fun and good memories.

    BTW: Cool that you can play the guitar. Wish i could.

    Yes, it's completely normal! You're not pathetic, if you ENJOY spending time the way you do, then continue to do it. If you don't, go meet new people, and make friends, get a girlfriend, have sex, you won't be a virgin anymore and I assume you'll be happy with your life.

    There is nothing wrong with being a virgin. One day you will meet someone and it will be special. You do have to get out there and meet people and make friends. You can’t isolate yourself from the world, it isn’t good for you. I wouldn’t put too much thought into it. It isn’t pathetic at all.

    dont lose it in a one night stand dude. you HAVE to be urself and not be shy because no1 wants u to be shy.

    do you ant people to be incredilbly shy to you? nope so just be urself ok? if u do be urself then ur life would be happier

    You have shut yourself off from the entire world, you spend every minute of your life on your own, what I'm wondering is how you haven't gone insane yet? Over Christmas I got snowed in, after 5 days I rang up my mom in hysterics because I hadn't saw another human for 5 days and you live like this?
    This sounds so depressing, everybody needs somebody to talk to every now and then, you really need to find some friends.
    I think being a virgin is the least of your worries, you'll find someone and not every woman is shallow enough to be put off about the fact that you're a virgin- infact that wouldn't bother most women so don't worry about that.
    You need a social life, your whole attitude towards life will change, I feel awfully sorry for you and I hope things work out
