Is it normal to be annoyed when tv presenters say this?

when TV presenters say things like "please join us again" or "we'll see you after the break". Obviously we see them, they don't see us. We don't meet them in person, either. Wouldn't it be better if they simply said: "please tune in again". Are they trying to appeal to lonely people by faking a sense of companionship? I don't think anyone is fooled. is it normal that this annoys me?

And how dare they tell people: don't go anywhere! Nothing gets me switching channels quicker than that.

At least this makes some sense. Have you ever analysed the words that are being said during advertisements? Most of it doesn't make any sense. Food, cosmetics, and compensation claims are the worst. And those slogans?

There's an advert on for M&Ms where some really arsey M&Ms are in the cupboard and they refuse to be eaten, instead throwing things at the man who is trying to get them. Then it says, "Bring 'em all home". Who buys ALL the M&Ms? You just buy a packet or two. And why would you want them at your home anyway if they were that aggressive and arsey. The slogan translates as "Find all rude people in the world and then take them home so they can throw things as you as you slowly starve to death". Positive, huh?

Having said that, one of my favourite adverts of all time was only last year. It actually brought a tear to my eye the first time I saw it, and how often can you say that about an advert?

Back when I was a really young girl (4-7 years old) I'd watch Family Feud and the host would ALWAYS fucking say "Don't go anywhere, we'll be right back!" I noticed that he said that every single fucking time, without fail.

For me, it was the Buckley cough syrup commercial that got on my nerves. "Tastes awful, and it works" jut makes a lot less sense than "Taste awful, BUT it works". I guess they decided that having a negative to their catch phrase wouldn't help or sumtin.

Or when they say, "Welcome back, you're watching (insert name of show)." They do not know if I am really watching or not...
