It doesn't matter what other people think. All that matters is what you do or don't do. Honestly, don't get caught up in this. It won't ever make you happy.
Normal, i get that alot. People, before they even know me. they say, " Oh he's gay dont waste your time or dont be his friend cuz he is gay." :( hurts. But its totz normal.
This guy at work walks by and says you never smile and your so quiet. And I'm the complete opposite. Yeah it's pretty annoying.
Just as Inspectoro19 said. This kind of assumptions are not negative and being offended by them is ridiculous.
For example when I told my friend something about what I did in a party 4-5 years ago, he said "I really can't picture you doing that". He wasn't telling me that I shouldn't or I couldn't do that. He just thought that I'm not the kind of a person to do such a thing. That's not something to be offended about.
"I can't picture you doing that"
That doesn't sound like someone saying "this is how you need to live"... that sounds more like someone saying, "you did something I did not expect."
And there's nothing wrong with telling someone that. It's not a commentary that they did something bad or good, just that it was unexpected.
Ummm really? "I can't picture you doing that " has nothing to do with people thinking you can't or haven't done something. It is simply a person's way of expressing that it is difficult to imagine you other than how they have come to know you. People that say these things haven't known you through every stage of your life. Everyone changes through time.
Kind of ridiculous to be so offended.
People probably can't picture you eating boogers either. Doesn't mean you didn't eat your fair share as a child. Lol
Perhaps you are the negative one.
Yeah, it's really normal to feel that way. I hate that! People always make false assumptions about me too. It's so annoying. They shouldn't be assuming things. They should just be open to getting to know a person before they start spewing all these words about what they "think".
"I, I thought you were like that?", "Well, you know what?? I'm not like that!!!! You were wrong!". They were wrong. I hate feeling misunderstood, or overlooked for some stupid reason that's just some false rumor or assumption that they cooked up or heard through other people. It's bull shit!
People need to get fucking real!
Absolutely! It's so bad when people make false assumptions about you, for example, based on the music you listen to, your hobbies, etc. If you listen to heavy metal = you're on angry person. If you love base jumping = you're reckless. If you love reading = you're shy. I think that's what gripes people the most about receiving uneducated judgments. It's also a nuisance to see people not having enough brain power to understand that making uneducated assumptions is lazy thinking.
