Is it normal to be annoyed by people who say, "oh, i've done x..."

"...I just have to do Y."

I'm talking about other college students when I overhear them chatting about major projects or assignments, where "X" is a tiny portion of the actual work (though described by the speaker as if it was a lot) and "Y" is the vast majority of the assignment.

    I did X one time in college...

    It wasnt part of any assignment or group project though.

    why do you care about others' work? seems like you've got too much free time in your hands that you care about what other must/mustn't do. just focus on yourself.

    That depends.
    Are they going to do Y or are they trying to get someone else to do Y, like in a group project?
