Is it normal to be annoyed by people who leave everything to god?

I grew up in a Christian household and recently became an atheist. The more I began to think and study, the more it just didn't make any sense to me. So here's my dilema: my father-in-law is a minister. He, however, is not the issue. It's my sister-in-law.

She, just like me, married into this family. However, her family is interesting. Her grandfather thought he was Jesus and her father thinks Jesus talks to him. He speaks to Jesus in public, staring up at the sky.

She didn't begin as crazy as she is now. She was a Christian, I was an atheist and we got along great. I respect her faith even if I don't believe. To each his own, right?

However, her parents moved out of state to start a farm. They are ministering our of this farm. Several people live in one house, farm, and worship god. Ok. Then, she and my bil go to visit her parents. She comes back and it's like she was visiting with Jim Jones and drank the Kool-Aid.

Now whenever I go on FaceBook, it's always some random quote about how great god is, written in the poorest grammar I've ever seen (I teach 7th grade, so that says alot). She's losing her job and she is "excited to see god working in her life". Everything's going to be ok because god will provide. Now, please understand, again, she was not always like this. Before she visited, she would have been scared, and probably gone to church and prayed. But now she does nothing?

Is is wrong to be annoyed by the fact that I watch her and her husband sit back and act like nothing's happening? I'm almost about to delete her from FB because I am losing my self-control. It's not going to be long before I tell her to get off her ass and do something! You know what? If your "god" gave you free-will, then you need to make good decisions. Is it a good decision to not take any precautions, to just sit there and wait to see if you can pay your bills or not?

Am I crazy?

    Ur family is a bit obsessed... It's pretty annoying when I meet ppl like that.

    That annoys me too. Even though I believe in God, I think she is stupid. God helps those who helps those who helps themselves. She needs to get off her lazy bum and do something for herself instead of expecting God to do everything for her.

    Not Crazy. Normal. I am an atheist. stopped beleiving when I was 14. Stuck to that. You may want to talk to your sister in law. Tell her that if god was real, why would he do EVERYTHING? He would want his followers to work hard and live well, he helps but does not control. As for you yourself, just watch some comedian talk about religion. Luagh it off. Look up Jim Gaffigan-religion on Youtube. maybe Dane Cook. funny people there

      Fuck Dane Cook. If you want quality religious comedy, look up Bill Maher, Lewis Black, George Carlin, and Ricky Gervais.

    place a bunch of rusty nails in the grass around the farm. When all of those zealots get tetanus, they'll put it in their god's hands and die. Problem solved in a win-win scenario (they get to go to heaven, you get peace of mind)

    dont be an atheist, im god, just worship me. also you gotta seriously smack her husband and tell him he should be helping her and making her understand that shes going the wrong way about things. hes a shite husband and shes honestly a bit of a dullard. if you must send her some fake signs or something. burn a bush and talk through it, anything thatll stop her being a prat and destroyin her life through blind following.

      Hahaha. AngelOfDeath is god?Thats funny. Death God. I'm athiest becuase I disagree with god in every religion and eventually gave up the thought of god. Worked great for me. Athiests FTW. Religion is fine, just don't give everything to it. It is so funny that you called yourself god. AngelOfDeath=god? Hahahaha, so funny. I'm easily amused ^-^
