Is it normal to be annoyed by people who are deaf for their behaviors?

I understand that if you are born deaf, you don't know any different. What I am referring to are the people who have their hearing damaged by their own doing (not aging) and expect up to be louder so they can hear us. An example is that at the gym, we have large screen TVs in the locker room and the volume on them are turned up to the equivalent of movie theater commercial levels (over 80dB). I have asked them to quit turning it up so loud and use the closed captioning instead for this reason. To me, I don't care for loud noise distractions for this reason. Is this normal to be annoyed by someone else disability and we have to adjust to it for them?

How do you know the cause of their hearing impairment?

I can understand your point in this specific circumstance (I also hate when the speakers are up way too loud and there's no need for it) but I am sure that the majority of times not only is it acceptable but it's just common decency to accommodate for someone's disability. Even if the disability is self-induced (through gluttony for example) you can't be certain what kind of regret that person is living with and how the future may shape them into a better person. They can't change what they've done and have no choice but to live with it, to punish them further isn't in any way productive. I'm not saying this is what you're doing, though, this is just in reference to the question.

But I can completely understand your predicament at the gym. Just because they're hard of hearing doesn't mean they should deafen everyone else in the room too as there are other alternatives and it's not necessary nor is it healthy to have the volume up so loud. I've come out of a gym before with my ears ringing and howling right through to the next day, never went back there.

The flat screens in my gym locker room are set to music videos. I don't notice how loud they are because honestly I don't care to do a lot of talking when I'm in the locker room.

I absolutely HATE people who are hard of hearing! Why the hell don't they just get a freaking hearing aid and be done with it?

So you HATE hard of hearing people who refuse to use a hearing aid, right?
Because hating all hard of hearing people just for their disability is pretty damn awful.

    • That is why I posted this. Thank you for your comment. Governments even cater to that specific handicap and some people don't adjust well. Should've thought of that before causing your own deafness.

YOU should have "thought of that" before asking the fucking question!
